New Delhi, Apr 29 (KNN) The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Sanjay Malhotra on Tuesday launched ‘Mission SAKSHAM’, a nationwide capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening the Urban Cooperative Banking (UCB) sector through focused training and skill development.
Mission SAKSHAM—meaning “to make capable”—will be implemented in a mission mode across the country. The programme will include both in-person and e-learning modules, targeting around 1.4 lakh participants from UCBs.
Under Mission SAKSHAM, a large number of in-person and e-learning training programmes will be conducted for UCBs, covering around 1.40 lakh participants across target groups such as board members, senior management, and heads of risk, compliance and audit, along with employees in IT and other critical functions.
The training will cover key stakeholders including board members, senior management, and heads of risk, compliance and audit functions, along with employees in IT and other critical areas.
“The Reserve Bank shall endeavour to conduct these training programmes with content delivery in regional languages to the extent feasible,” the release said.
The initiative has been designed in consultation with the umbrella organisation of UCBs and national and state cooperative federations.
“The Mission is expected to enhance managerial and operational capabilities, improve the compliance culture, and strengthen institutional resilience across UCBs,” the release noted.
According to the RBI, Mission SAKSHAM seeks to create a continuous learning ecosystem within UCBs, contributing to systemic stability and supporting the long-term growth and development of the sector.
