Lok Sabha Clears Finance Bill 2026 With 32 Govt Amendments

New Delhi, Mar 25 (KNN) The Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the Finance Bill 2026, incorporating 32 government amendments, thereby completing its part of the Union Budget approval process for 2026–27.

The Bill will now be taken up by the Rajya Sabha. Following its approval in the Upper House, the Budget process for the upcoming financial year will be formally concluded, PTI reported.

Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the Finance Bill 2026–27 is based on five clear principles, adding that efforts to strengthen trust-based tax administration are being enhanced, and emphasised that the push for ease of living for citizens and ease of doing business should continue.

The Union Budget 2026–27 outlines a total expenditure of Rs 53.47 lakh crore, marking a 7.7 per cent increase over the current financial year ending March 31.

Capital expenditure has been pegged at Rs 12.2 lakh crore, reflecting continued emphasis on infrastructure and asset creation.

The government has projected gross tax revenues at Rs 44.04 lakh crore, while gross borrowing is estimated at Rs 17.2 lakh crore for the next fiscal.

The fiscal deficit for FY2026–27 is estimated at 4.3 per cent of GDP, slightly lower than the revised estimate of 4.4 per cent for the ongoing financial year.
