India and Brazil have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation between their Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and promote a green economic transition, officials said. The agreement was formalised during the visit of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to India, reflecting the growing economic partnership between the two nations.
The MoU, signed between India’s Ministry of MSME and Brazil’s Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Micro and Small Enterprises, establishes a structured platform for dialogue and collaboration on issues affecting MSMEs in both countries. It aims to help enterprises understand each other’s markets, technologies, policy environments and strengths.
A key focus of the agreement is supporting MSMEs in sustainable development and the green transition by encouraging access to green finance, promoting environmentally friendly business practices and boosting competitiveness. Officials said the framework will also encourage knowledge exchange, partnerships and stronger linkages between Indian and Brazilian small business sectors.
The MoU is part of broader efforts to enhance bilateral economic ties and expand cooperation in strategic sectors, complementing trade targets and other agreements discussed between the two countries during the state visit.
