New Delhi, Feb 2 (KNN) The PlastIndia Foundation, representing India’s plastics industry, has welcomed the Union Budget 2026–27, describing it as a balanced, forward-looking plan that supports economic growth, manufacturing competitiveness, and sustainability.
Ravish Kamath, President, PlastIndia Foundation, said, “The Budget’s strong emphasis on infrastructure development, manufacturing, MSME support, ease of doing business, and skilling will have a positive multiplier effect on the plastics and downstream industries, which are integral to sectors such as packaging, agriculture, healthcare, construction, and mobility.”
“Measures aimed at boosting domestic production, encouraging innovation, and enhancing infrastructure will significantly benefit the plastics industry, which plays a vital role in enabling growth across multiple sectors of the economy,” he added.
He observed that continued focus on MSMEs, access to credit, and technology upgradation will help Indian plastic processors enhance competitiveness in domestic and international markets.
Kamath emphasised, “The initiatives focused on sustainability, circular economy, and waste management, noting that these align well with the plastics industry’s ongoing transition towards responsible manufacturing, recycling, and resource efficiency are welcome.”
He reiterated the plastics industry’s commitment to supporting policies that promote circularity and the environmentally responsible use of plastics.
