New Delhi, Mar 7 (KNN) The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) celebrated seven years of its SWAYATT initiative, recording strong growth in participation and transaction value.
Orders from women entrepreneurs increased from about Rs 1,265.62 crore in FY19 to Rs 83,323 crore by FY26, while startup order values rose from Rs 497.24 crore to Rs 54,005.8 crore during the same period, reaffirming its commitment to promoting inclusive public procurement for startups, women entrepreneurs and youth across India.
Since its launch in 2019, SWAYATT aims to democratise government procurement by enabling startups, women-led enterprises, youth, micro and small enterprises (MSEs), self-help groups and last-mile sellers to access government markets through the digital procurement platform.
The initiative focuses on improving access to markets, finance and value-addition opportunities by leveraging GeM’s online procurement infrastructure.
Entrepreneurs also shared their experiences of using the GeM platform for public procurement. Founders of Club First Robotics, Surprise Someone and other enterprises highlighted how GeM helped them access government markets and scale operations.
In his keynote address, GeM CEO, Mihir Kumar said SWAYATT reflects GeM’s vision of making procurement more inclusive by connecting emerging enterprises directly with government buyers through digital technology.
GeM said the programme continues to expand opportunities for grassroots enterprises through outreach, capacity building and transparent digital procurement systems.
